A beluga whale once appeared on the banks of the Rhine and eventually disappeared in the frenzy of the people. When I was looking for traces of this story with my camera, I came to the Duisburg Zoo. Here, I began to look at this place anew, as traces of the past slowly faded away like the sound of waves.

Ein Weißwal erschien einst am Ufer des Rheins; schließlich verschwand er im Trubel der Menschen. Als ich mit meiner Kamera im Duisburger Zoo ankam, begann ich, diesen Ort anders zu betrachten, während die Spuren der Vergangenheit wie das Rauschen der Wellen allmählich verklangen.
